Mohammad Haroon

Vice-Admiral Mohammad Haroon, HI(M), SI (M), is a retired 3-star rank naval officer and the former Vice Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan Navy. He got commission in the Operations branch in 1971. Mohammad Haroon joined the elite Submarine Squadron in 1972, He is the only officer in Pakistan Naval History to have commanded three Submarines and a Type 21 Frigate. He also has the longest sea time in years than any other officer in Pakistan Navy. He is a graduate of Naval War College, USA and did his National Defence Course from National Defence University, Islamabad. ==Naval career==
As a junior officer, he served on board various units of the fleet and later joined submarine service in 1972. His important appointments include command of a Gun Boat, three Submarines & a Destroyer. He has also been Commander Submarine Squadron. His Staff appointments include Director Submarine Training Center, Commander Operations & Sea Training to Commander Submarine, DS War Wing National Defence College, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Plans) at NHQ and a diplomatic assignment as Naval Attaché at New Delhi (India). His services in India were recognized and Mohammad Haroon was awarded with Tamgha-e-Basalat (military) by the President of Pakistan.
He was promoted Rear Admiral in 1999 and then served as Director General (Training) JSHQ for two years. He was then appointed as Commander Karachi in 2000. He was appointed as Chief of Staff at Naval Headquarters in December 2002 and was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral in the same month. He served as Commander Pakistan Fleet (COMPAK) in the year 2004-05 and later appointed as Vice Chief of Naval Staff on 07 Nov 05.〔"Vice Admiral Mohammad Haroon Appointed Vice Chief of Naval Staff."
